On Saturday, September 15, 2012 God called his son, Mr. James Hassell Taylor age 87 of Mt. Airy, NC, to be with his Lord and Savior. Mr. Taylor was born September 20, 1924 in Surry County to the late Sally Mozelle Hall Taylor and Lacy Franklin Taylor. He was retired from Mt. Airy Furniture Company and was a member of Shelton Church of the Brethren. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elsie Lee Hiatt Taylor of the home, a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Fred Chilton Jr., Mt. Airy, and a son and daughter-in-law, Weldon and Lynda Taylor, Mt. Airy, he is survived by four grandchildren, and spouses, Jennifer and Sam Hawks, Dobson, Jason and Susan Chilton Mt. Airy, Kevin and Misty Taylor, Mt. Airy, and Bryan Taylor, Mt. Airy. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren, Shelbey Taylor, Camden Taylor, Lacey Taylor, Aaron Hawks, Keith Hawks, Isaac Chilton and Hannah Chilton, a brother and sister-in-law, Claybern and Peggy Taylor, Mt. Airy. and a sister-in-law, Matilda Taylor, Mt. Airy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Taylor Shelton and a brother, Ray Taylor. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday , September 19, 2012 at Shelton Church of the Brethern conducted by Rev. Ted Turner and Dr. James R. Dilly, whom Mr. Taylor dearly loved and Chaplain Randy Hillman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to extend a very warm and grateful thank you to Dr. James R. Dilly and Chaplain Randy Hillman. Also, a thank you to the staff of Mt. Airy Dialysis Center, and the staff at Forsyth Medical Center renal floor for all of their care and love and support to Mr. Taylor and his family.
