Mr. James Jacob "Ray" Thomas

Mr. James Jacob “Ray” Thomas, age 68, of Pinnacle, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Surry County on February 28, 1949, to William Carl and Ada Lee McCraw Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend to so many. He will be sorely missed. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Ramana Thomas; daughter and a son-in-law, Tammy and Todd Grubbs, and Brandy Thomas; step children, Christy Easter, Shelly Easter and Shannon Cain; grandchildren, Johnathan Davis, Brandon Davis, Haley Thomas, Emily Moncus, Jacob Childress and Austin Childress; step grandchildren, Cody Stewart, Tyler Cain, Isabelle Cain, Lacy Beck, and Tyler Beck; sisters and brothers-in-law, Myrtle Poindexter, JoAnn Sisk, Betty Wright, Mary and Burton Terry, and Jeanette and Roger Montgomery; a brother, E. C. Thomas; special nieces, Pamela McDaniel and husband Donnie, and Rhonda Cranford; great nieces, Brittany McDaniel, Megan Cranford, Kimberly McDaniel; and a great-great niece, Adaleigh Potts. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by brothers, Virgil, Carl Junior and Lee Roy Thomas. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Don Collins and Rev. Dale Bass. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Friends Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, beginning at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
