Mr. James Rudolph Thompson, 77, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 20, 2007. Born on September 17, 1929 in Surry County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Millard and Mattie Thompson. After serving in the United States Army from 1946 to 1951, James married Juanita Lawrence in 1952 and moved to Alexandria, Virginia where he worked for Peoples Drug Store for 21 years before moving to Longwood Florida. James was very active with the Rebose Club in Casselberry Florida. A 20-year recovering alcoholic and 25 years of quitting smoking, James spent decades helping others with their addictions. He always helped his neighbors and never asked for anything in return. James Thompson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Juanita, his three sons Lawrence of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Thomas of Leesburg, Virginia, Fred of Orlando, Florida and his daughter Betty Lou Boudreau of Greensboro, North Carolina. James is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. James was also the father of the late Shirley Kay Thompson who passed away in 1969 at the early age of 5. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday May 24, 2007 at Moody-Davis Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the family gravesite at New Hope Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 PM. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 Central Parkway, Altamonte, Springs, Florida 32714.
