Mr. James Ray Wood, 78, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice home. He was born in Surry County on September 5, 1935 to the late Howard and Eliza Stanley Wood. Mr. Wood was a retired farmer and a dedicated member of Liberty Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of five years, Mrs. Treva Ann Gillespie Wood, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Sandy and Christine Wood, of East Bend and Ashley Wood of Dobson; six beloved grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Arnie Willard of Yadkinville, Betty Tobbler of Mount Airy; and one brother, L.V. Wood of Siloam. In addition to his parents, one brother, Delmar Wood and one sister, Rita Wood preceded him in death. A memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Rev. Jimmy Tucker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 pm on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the James Ray Wood Funeral Fund, c/o Moody-Davis Funeral Home P.O. Box 295 Dobson, NC 27017 to assist the family with final expenses. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Rev. Jimmy Tucker for his guidance and friendship.
