Mr. James Billy "Bill" Wood

Mr. James Billy "Bill" Wood, 79, of Dobson passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Surry County on May 11, 1933 to the late James Richard and Pearl Reece Wood. Mr. Wood was a retired farmer and a dedicated member of Bear Creek Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia Ann Vernon Wood, of the home; a sister, Janie Wright of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Coy and Carolyn Wood of Dobson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jessie Lee Wood, Rev. Bobby Franklin "Bob" Wood and an infant brother. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Bear Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Dan Buie and Rev. Chad Phillips with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 pm until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Bear Creek Church Road Dobson, NC 27017. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and neighbors for their every act of kindness.
