Mr. Jerry Franklin Amburn, age 78, of Mt. Airy, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday afternoon, March 21, 2017 at his home. Mr. Amburn was born March 31, 1938 in Surry County to the late Eldridge Washington Amburn, Sr. and Ila Marie Hayes Amburn. He was retired from Henredon Furniture and was a member and Deacon of Ladonia Baptist Church. Mr. Amburn was a member of Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF and AM for thirty years. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Patsy Johnson Amburn; daughter, Libby Amburn; son, Chad Amburn; grandchildren, Adrienne Horton and special friend Jarrod Gough, and Mason Horton and wife Brooke; a sister, Melrose Rhyne; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Amburn was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Amburn Thompson and by two brothers, E.W. Amburn, Jr. and Ross Montgomery Amburn. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Ladonia Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Tony Holder and Rev. Steve Johnson, where his body will Lie-in-State thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Full Masonic Rites conducted by Round Peak Lodge #616 AF & AM. The family will receive friends Thursday night, March 23, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted or, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The family would like to express a “special thanks” to the Ladonia community for all of their love and support during Jerry’s illness.
