Mr. Jerry Monroe Hodges

Mr. Jerry Monroe Hodges, 65, of Lowgap passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Surry County on March 13, 1952 to the late Vander Oakes and Edith Marie Lawson Hodges. Mr. Hodges was former owner-operator of Lowgap Grocery, and was a member of Fairview Church. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Spivey Hodges of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Bobby Shelton of Lowgap; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Laura Hodges of Lowgap; step-sons, Ryan Gentry, and Lee Gentry both of Lowgap; four grandchildren, Jaxon Hodges, Lexi Hodges, Tyler Ramey, Morgan Ramey; four step grandchildren, Emma, Ryker, Gavin, and Ryder; sisters and brothers-in-law, Emma and Larry Jenkins, Eula and Woody Johnson, Oma Cockerham; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earnest and Kathy Hodges, Wallace and Cheryl Hodges, Billy and Judy Hodges; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Waddell. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Fairview Church with the Rev. Sam Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Fairview Church in Galax.
