Mr. Jesse Willard Hubbard, age 77 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem. He was born in Patrick County on May 5, 1932 to the late Samuel R. and Rosa Eanes Hubbard. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hubbard was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Ruth Colville Hubbard; one son, Jesse Horace Hubbard; two sisters, Mary Howell and Nellie Shelton; and three brothers, Arthur, James and Ben Hubbard. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator and had worked at Primland. He served in the United States Army and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
Mr. Hubbard is survived by five sons, Edward Lee Hubbard, Sam Willard Hubbard, Charlie Lowell Hubbard and Billy William Hubbard, all of Stuart and William Willard Hubbard of Roanoke; six daughters, Lucille Hubbard Elgin, Joyce Fay Rodgers, Ruth Ann Massey, and Betsy Belle Hubbard, all of Stuart, and Hope Ann Hubbard of Woolwine, and Judy Hubbard Joyce of Meadows of Dan, eighteen grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Vergie Pruitt, Annie Tatum and Agnes Williams, all of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mr. Hubbard will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. Burial will follow in the Hubbard Family Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
