Mr. Jesse James Lawson

Mr. Jesse James Lawson, age 74 of Stuart, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on February 5, 1938. Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Clark Lawson Newman; his step-father, Charlie Newman; and his step-mother, Janet Lawson. He had been a truck driver for over 58 years, and had driven for Hopkins Lumber.
Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife of 49 years, Priscilla Thomas Lawson of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and David Harbour, Carol and Jimmy Willard and Joanne Spangler, all of Stuart; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Jeanette Lawson of Rocky Mount; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild; his father, James Henry Lawson of Stuart; one brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Donna Lawson of Madison, North Carolina; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Richard Malachuk of Port Orange, Florida, Brenda and Mike Fontenat of Reading, Pennsylvania; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services for Mr. Lawson will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. J.R. Shelton and Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Russell Creek Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times at the home.
