Mr. Jesse Wood Sheppard

Mr. Jesse Wood Sheppard, age 18 of Stuart, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born on January 18, 1991 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Mr. Sheppard was a 2009 graduate of Patrick County High School where he was a member of the Cougar Marching Band and the Praise and Worship Team. He was a member of the high school drama classes and participated in the drama productions. He also was a member of Peters Creek Baptist Church, a 4-H All-star, a member of the Downtown Boys and was an avid musician. He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Georgia and Hassel Sheppard and William and Edith Hazelwood; and his maternal great-grandparents, Clifford and Bernice Wood and Ralph Turner.
Mr. Sheppard is survived by his parents, Eric and Lisa Sheppard of Stuart and Wendy Wood Sheppard of Woolwine; one sister, Sarah Sheppard of Woolwine; a step-brother, Jonathan Woods of Stuart and a step-sister, Meredith Law of Stuart; his paternal grandparents, Geraldine and Bob McPeak of Stuart and Jimmy Sheppard of Stuart; his maternal grandparents, Benny and Connie Wood of Woolwine and his maternal great-grandmother, Lillian C. Turner of Woolwine; his aunts and uncles, Kelly and Wade Hooker of Critz, Leslie and Tony Giorno of Salem and Justin and Kayla Wood of Woolwine; and cousins, Nicholas Hooker, Taylor Giorno, Hannah Giorno, and Kirstin Wood.
Funeral services for Mr. Sheppard will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Patrick County High School Auditorium with Rev. Terry Ragsdale and Dr. Bucky Hunsicker officiating. Burial will follow in the Peters Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
