Mr. Jimmy Rooselvelt Whitaker, age 74, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away on Sunday evening August 5, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born in Surry County on June 12, 1938 to the late James Martin Whitaker and the late Sara Lou White Whitaker. He was a retired truck driver. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Whitaker; four sisters Gladys Jenkins, Elizabeth Bledsoe, Ruth Hunt, Martha Casstevens; one brother Johnny Ralph Whitaker.
Surviving are his son and fiancée who was his nurse and care taker James Martin Whitaker of Rural Hall, NC Annette Dickson of Mt. Airy; his step children Steve, of Jamestown, Kathy, Lyldia, Teresa all of High Point; four sisters and Brothers-in-law Dorothy Speers of Mt. Airy, Grace and Vernon Mills of Thomasville, Betty and Roy Walker of Dobson, Susie Norman of Dobson; three brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Sue Whitaker of Archdale, Sam Whitaker of Thomasville, Phil and Brenda Whitaker of Elkin; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Wednesday 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson with burial to follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Terry Coe will conduct the service. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7 PM until 9 PM.
