Mr. John Raymond "Ray" Coleman, Jr

Mr. John Raymond "Ray" Coleman, Jr., age 76 of Spencer, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born in Patrick County on May 19, 1936 to the late John R. Coleman, Sr. and Ethel Wiggington Coleman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Wallace "Butch" Jones, Jr.; a brother, Esley C. Coleman, Sr.; and a sister, Emma Jean White. He was a longtime member of Mayo Christian Church, had retired from Sara Lee Industries, and had worked as a security guard for Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hazel Hylton Coleman of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy Jones of Martinsville, Karen and Roy Walker, Sr. of Spencer; three grandchildren, Kayla Jones, Connor Jones, Lindsey Finney and husband, Carl Thomas Finney, Jr.; one great-grandchild, Carly Finney; one sister, Loretta Doss of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Coleman will be held Friday, March 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Mayo Christian Church with Pastor Curt Ashley and Pastor Kenneth McFarland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
