Mr. John Darion Shelton

Mr. John Darion Shelton, age 75, of Dobson, passed away Friday May 6, 2016 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born April 8, 1941 in Stokes County to the late Elbert Marion Shelton and Nannie Collins Shelton. He is survived by his wife, Georgie Lee Johnson Shelton. Mr. Shelton worked as a mechanic for The North Carolina Department of Transportation and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, He is survived by his daughter, Sheila Prevette Hayes, of Dobson; a son, Darion Lee Shelton of Dobson; grandsons, Chris (Jessica) Hayes of Mount Airy and Caleb Shelton of Dobson; a granddaughter, Candra (Toby) Chriscoe of Dobson; great grandchildren, Sadie Grace Hayes and Camden Hayes of Mount Airy, and Hayden Chriscoe and Harper Chriscoe of Dobson.; and a sister, Mary Ruth McLaurine. Mr. Shelton was also preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Layne; and brothers, Avah Shelton and Arnold Shelton. There will be a Graveside Service at 11:00 AM Monday, May 9, 2016 at Skyline Memorial Gardens with James Jessup conducting the service. There will be no visitation.
