Mr. Johnny "Steve" Mitchell, Sr

Mr. Johnny "Steve" Mitchell, Sr. age 63 of Bassett, Virginia passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on December 9, 1949 to Alvin "Ab" Mitchell and Irene Virginia Holt Rigney. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie "Red" Mitchell; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Roberts Mitchell and a stepfather, William Rigney. Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking pictures, especially photos of sunsets.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Laurie M. Young of Henry, and Melody M. Hyde and husband, Roger of Bassett; a son Johnny Steve Mitchell, Jr. of Axton; his mother, Irene Virginia Holt Rigney of Bassett; his father Alvin "Ab" Mitchell and step-mother, Ola Mae Mitchell both of Bassett; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Mitchell will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11:00am at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Delmas Rorrer and Pastor Danny Wright officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Stateline Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of his mother or his father.
