Mr. Joseph Barnard Baskin

Mr. Joseph “Joe” Barnard Baskin, age 49, of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at his home. Mr. Baskin was born in Surry County on April 6, 1967 to Phoebe Barnard Baskin and the late George Franklin Baskin. He worked for the City of Mt. Airy and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. Having served in the marines, Mr. Baskin was part of a proud military family. In addition to his mother Mr. Baskin is survived by a daughter, Allison Baskin; a son, Taylor Baskin; a sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Richard Emily; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sonya Baskin and his fiancée Ginger Hunter. In addition to his father, Mr. Baskin was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth and Brenda Jo Baskin, brothers, Jerry and Perry Baskin and by Winston and Charlie. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Richard Loman. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mountain Post 9436 and Mt. Airy Post 2019. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at noon.
