Mr. Joseph Nelson Dawson

Mr. Joseph Nelson Dawson, 67, of Cana, VA passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. He was born in Carroll County VA on May 8, 1949 to the late Theodore Dalfred “Ted” Dawson and Josie Ellen Pedigo Smith McGee. He is survived by his loving wife, Janie Loretta Angel Dawson; daughters, Nikki Spencer and husband, Michael, Amber Golding, Loretta Kirby and fiancé, Chad Mash; sons and daughters-in-law, Neil Dawson and wife, Johnetta, Drew Dawson, Shane Dawson and Tony Kirby and wife, Angela; eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild; a half-sisters, Kim Hall, Holly Nichols and husband, Wayne, a brother, Ted Dawson and wife, Debbie; half-brothers, Mark Smith and Steven Dawson, step sisters, Kay Jackson and Darlena Parker and husband, Wayne; step brothers, Tim Burton and wife, Pam, Ronald Hawks and wife, Dawn, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dawson was preceded in death by a sister, Viola “Porky” Jones and a half brother, Carl Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Woodland Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Slate and Rev. Israel Easter officiating. Burial will follow in the Pedigo Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday evening at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
