Mr. Kenneth Eugene "Bud" Martin

Mr. Kenneth Eugene "Bud" Martin, age 69 of Lee Elgin Road, Stuart, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Russell County, Virginia on May 23, 1940 to the late Charlie and Susan Nester Martin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by one son, Herbert Allen Martin; two brothers, Clarence Maynard Martin and James Clifford Martin; and two sisters, Agnes Yates and Clarice Hall. He was retired from Stanley Furniture with 43 years of service, had attended the Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was an avid trout fisherman.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann Elgin Belcher Martin of the home; one son, Kenny Earnest Martin of Lakeland, Florida; four step-children and their spouses, Sharon and Wayne Gilley of Stuart, Karen and Richard Puckett of Stuart, Stevie and Kim Belcher of Winchester, and Dean and Jessica Belcher of Stuart; three grandchildren, Malissa M. Jones, Jeremy Martin, and wife, Meghan, and Nicole Martin Williamson, and husband Joseph; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Tyson, Kayla Jones and Aiden Williamson; eight step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ethel Harter of Lebanan and Norma Lee Hurd of Michigan.
Funeral services will be held for Mr. Martin on Friday, June 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Buffalo Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Kenneth Terry and Rev. Leonard Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Woolwine Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. If desired, memorials may be made to the Woolwine Rescue Squad, or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Charmaine Atkins, P.O. Box 10, Claudville, Virginia 24076 or to the Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department, 9957 Woolwine Hwy., Woolwine, Virginia 24185. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
