Mr. Larkin "Eugene" Hubbard

Mr. Larkin "Eugene" Hubbard, age 73 of Meadows of Dan passed away Saturday evening at his home. He was born on May 9, 1938 to the late Charlie Dan Hubbard and India Mae Wood Hubbard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Sprout Rhodes; a brother, Hampton Hubbard and three sisters, Annabelle Hubbard, Ivydell Hubbard and Dorothy Mae Hubbard. Eugene had served as a lay speaker at Mt View and Harris Chapel for over 35 years, was a Gideon for over 25 years and was very active in the Lord's Acre movement, where he had served as president. He truly enjoyed listening to and playing gospel and blue grass music with the Hubbard Brothers and the Mt. View Singers.
Mr. Hubbard is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lala Pendleton Hubbard of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Troy Wood of Meadows of Dan, VA and Sandra and Brian Gunnell of Wilmington, NC; a son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Marcy Hubbard of Sandy Ridge, NC; six grandchildren, Becky McMeans, Leslie Burks, Rosie Wood, Tristan Hubbard, Brooklyn Rhodes and Sierra Hubbard; three great grand children, Emma McMeans, Mischa McMeans and Kaylee McMeans; three brothers, Luther and Cornelia Hubbard, Raymond Hubbard, and Charles "Pete" and Linda Hubbard, all of Meadows of Dan; a sister, Lelia Hubbard of Rocky Mount, VA; a sister-in-law, Iva Jane Hubbard of Meadows of Dan and several nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 20, 2012 at 2:00pm at Mt. View United Methodist Church with Revs. Norman Biggs and Terry Martin officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Hubbard family cemetery. The family is receiving friends Monday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Gideons International in memory of Eugene Hubbard, P.O. Box 921, Stuart, VA 24171.
