Mr. Larry Wayne Atkins

Mr. Larry Wayne Atkins, 64 of 613 Woltz Atkins Road, Mount Airy, NC, passed away at his home on Saturday November 25, 2006. He was born in Surry County on September 1, 1942, son of Woltz and Vena Lowe Atkins. Mr. Atkins was a veteran of the US Army having served our country during the Korean Conflict and was a retired employee of Proctor-Silex. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Larry Neil Atkins and wife Elizabeth of Mt. Airy; two step-daughters and sons-in-law Lisa and Carlos Raya of Charlotte, NC and Melanie and John Weaver of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two granddaughters Ellie and Sydney Atkins of Mt. Airy, NC; one step-granddaughter Abby Weaver of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters and one brother-in-law Faye Goings and husband Bill of Mt. Airy, NC and Mary Ann Atkins of the home; five brothers and four sisters-in-law Gray Atkins and wife Betty of Dobson, NC, Bobby and wife Sherri of Mt. Airy, NC, Barnard "Podge" Atkins and wife Linda of Mt. Airy, NC. Rev. Joe Atkins and wife Lonette of Mt. Airy, NC, and Jimmy "Casey" Atkins of the home; four nieces and six nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Butch Goings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday November 27, 2006 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home of Dobson with Rev. Kenneth Jessup officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 7 to 9 PM.
