Mr. Larry Phil Horton

Mr. Larry Phil Horton, 73, of Mt. Airy, passed away at his home Saturday, April 01, 2017. He was born in Patrick County, VA on May 22, 1943 to the late Orbra and Bessie Pack Horton. He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church. Mr. Horton is survived by his wife, Rita Ann Puckett Horton of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Jessica Horton of Claudville, VA, Stephen and Crystal Horton of Oxford, NC; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Brandon and Kelly McHone, Ben and Teresa McHone; grandchildren, Laken and husband, Chase Barnes, Brady Horton and Eli Horton; step grandchildren, Noah McHone and Cameron McHone; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Wayne Hayden of Mt. Airy, Connie and Ricky Woods of Mt. Airy, Jeanette Lundy of Mountain City, TN and Imener and Lewis “Buddy” Peyton of Stuart, VA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Marie Horton of Ararat, VA, Noel and Joan Horton of Claudville, VA and Maynard and Gail Horton of Claudville, VA; and two special friends, Jack Smith of Mt. Airy, NC and Bill Wheeler of Pilot Mountain, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Horton was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer Horton; and infant sister, and a brother, Allen Horton. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Zane Fishel officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM. A private interment will follow at a later time. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy will be assisting the Horton Family.
