Mr. Larry Franklin Patterson, 71, of Dobson passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry County on January 8, 1941 to the late Wade Odell and Kathleen Simpson Patterson. He was a lifelong resident of the Dobson area who was dedicated to the community he dearly loved. Mr. Patterson served on the Dobson Planning Board and was involved in many other political affiliations. He was a loving family man and stood strong in his faith. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of twenty years, Barbara Ann Coe Patterson, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and David Dotson of Rocky Mount, VA., Tina and Todd Butcher of Mount Airy and Terrea and Michael Wall of Dobson; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kevin and Kim Patterson of Mount Airy, Tony Sloop of Dobson and Chris and Ingle Sloop of Pilot Mountain; his beloved grandchildren, Denise Dotson Arrington, Scott Dotson, Luke Butcher, William Wall, Michaela Wall, Laken Patterson, Katelyn Patterson, Dustin Sloop, Cameron Sloop, and Chloe Sloop; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Tommy Wheeler of Elkin; a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Karen Patterson of Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Little Richmond Baptist Church by the Rev. J.V. Lowe, the Rev. Tim Burton and the Rev. Cory Honeycutt with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2 pm until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Richmond Baptist Church 9609 NC Highway 268 Elkin, NC 28621 or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane, Suite200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would liked to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Joan and Howard Woltz Home for their loving and passionate care and to the many friends and neighbors for their love, prayers and every act of kindness shown during this difficult time.
