Mr. Larry Dale Rakes

Mr. Larry Dale Rakes, age 62, of Ararat, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016, at his home. Mr. Rakes was born in Surry County on November 28, 1953 to James and Bernice Sutphin Rakes. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Freda Dalton Rakes; a daughter, Jennifer Rakes Welcome and husband, John; sons, Jason Dale Rakes and Jonathan Dale Rakes; grandchildren, Annabelle Shore, Darren Shore, Madyson Welcome, Maycie Welcome; a special “adopted daughter, Kristy Edwards and husband Jeremiah; “adopted grandchildren, Tabitha, Dixie and Betty; a special nephew, Donnie Rakes; and special friends, Steve, Nelson, Ronald and Elbert “Cupcake”. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Holy Cross Baptist Church by Rev. Butch Holder. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
