Mr. Larry Dallas Shelton

Mr. Larry Dallas Shelton, age 78, of Mt. Airy, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Mr. Shelton was born the son of Mildred Wagoner Shelton Collins and the late William “Pete” Shelton on December 31, 1937. He retired from Frank Welch & Sons. He was the husband, of Winnie Snody Shelton and the father of, Terry Lee Shelton, and wife Janice, Cheryl Shelton Welch and husband, John, and Rodney Dell Shelton. He was the grandfather of the late Zachary Aaron Shelton. Mr. Shelton was also grandfather of Leslie Danielle Newsome and husband, Kevin, Matthew Gardner Shelton, Laiken Hunter Shelton, Charles “Carl” Reid, Kaitlen Madison Shelton and the great grandfather of Cameron Marshall, Aaron Marshall, Keevie Newsome Wilmoth and husband, Alex, Klay Newsome, Katey Ann Newsome, Jordan Newsome and Seth Newsome. He was the brother of Shelby Jean Laney, Diane Fox and husband, Jimmy and Rose Mary Jones and husband, Alton. Mr. Shelton was a brother-in-law of Wanda Johnson, Joyce Thomas and husband, Bill, Mike Snody and wife, Joella and the late Gail Brim. He is also survived by a special family friend, Michael Wilson. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Friday, December 9, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Foothills Food Pantry, 233 Cooper St., Dobson, NC 27017. The family would also like to express their deepest appreciation to the Frank Welch Family for all the love and support shown through the years as well as all the friends, family and neighbors that have extended their support and assistance during Mr. Shelton’s illness.
