Mr. Larry R. Taylor

Mr. Larry R. Taylor, 69, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born in Surry County on March 25, 1948 to the late Ralph Cole Taylor and Violet Clorine Humphries Taylor Bass. Larry was a retired fire engineer from the Mount Airy Fire Department after 37 years of service. He also worked as a Surry County First Responder. Larry enjoyed golf, fishing, and would go to the Derby restaurant every day to visit with friends over a cup of coffee and sometimes a meal. He appreciated his long-time friend, David, and his ability to keep him in lawn mowers through the years. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Patricia Taylor; two sons and daughter-in-law, Mark Taylor and wife, Donna, and Johnny Taylor; a sister, Cindy White; two brothers, Marty Taylor and wife, Michelle, and Danny Taylor and wife, Melissa; step father, Papa Jack Bass; and many wonderful friends, along with two rock hard friends, David and Crystal Collins who have stayed with the family consistently for the last four weeks during Larry illness. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Bass officiating. The interment will be a private service. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy from 12:30 on Tuesday until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
