Mr. Larry Dean "Frog" Wood

Mr. Larry Dean "Frog" Wood, 57, of Elkin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice with his loving family by his bedside. He was born in Surry County on March 14, 1956 to the late Raymond Wood, Sr. and Donnelda "Nell" Blanch Rose Wood. Mr. Wood was a retired self employed carpenter and a faithful member of Bear Creek Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife and soul mate of twenty-five years, Mary Lou Sykes Wood of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christina and Jason White of Dobson, and Melissa and Danny Wood of Elkin; and a son, Wesley Wood of Dobson; his "Special Angel", Ashley Felts of Claudville, VA.; a step-daughter, Jodi and husband Ronald Atkins of Mount Airy; eleven beloved grandchildren; four siblings and spouses, Mary Lou and Chuck Hamm, Thomas and Shirley Stanley, Saundra Wood, and Raymond and Nancy Wood, all of Dobson; and also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 5 pm on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Bear Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Dan Buie and Rev. Tony White with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the funeral service, and other times at the home of his sister, Mary Lou, 618 Bear Creek Church Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Larry Dean Wood Funeral Fund, c/o Moody-Davis Funeral Home PO Box 295 Dobson NC 27017 to assist the family with final expenses
