Mr. Lawrence Lee "Larry" Brannon, Jr., age 65 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in McDowell County, West Virginia on July 11, 1945. Mr. Brannon was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Belcher Brannon; his mother and step-father, William and Virginia Ayers Marshall; one sister, Carolyn Marshall; and one brother, Lonnie Brannon. Mr. Brannon was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher. He received an associate's degree from Guilford Technical Institute. He had served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam conflict in Thailand, and retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as an electronics technician.
Mr. Brannon is survived by his wife, Patricia Faye Belcher Brannon of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Brannon of High Point, North Carolina; Gerald and Mary Brannon of High Point, J.D. and Lori Morse of Stuart; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Victor Jones of Roanoke; ten grandchildren, Kristyn Brannon, Brooke Knight, Morgan Brannon, Peyton Brannon, Monroe Morse, Taylor Jones, Martin Morse, Sydney Jones, Logan Brannon and Torrence Jones; his father, Lawrence Lee Brannan, Sr. of Morristown, Tennessee; seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Suzi Brannan, Gerry and Doug Cantwell, Kim Richardson, Jackie Brannan, Linda Kaye Sadler, Evelyn Faye and Paul Coble and Kathy and Jerry Wadkins; and one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Paula Marshall; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry and Ann Belcher, Ellis and Jeanette Belcher, Linda and Vernon Harris, Benton and Jennifer Belcher, Howard and Jean Belcher, Marvin and Elva Belcher and Arlene and Robert Wood; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sam and Lillian Belcher of Woolwine.
Funeral services for Mr. Brannon will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Melton, Rev. Terry Martin and Evangelist Bunny Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
