Mr. Lawrence Caldwell Wilson

Mr. Lawrence Caldwell Wilson, 71 of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, July 22, 2011 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Wilson was born in Surry County on October 2, 1939 to the late Gilmer Lawrence Wilson and Norene Velda Lowe Wilson. He retired from Pike Electric and was a member of Community Baptist Church. Mr. Wilson is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Libby and Bruce Barker of Winston Salem, NC; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Vickie Wilson of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren, Nathan Barker, Jessica Robertson and husband, Randy, Caleb Barker and Alyssa Barker; two great grandchildren, Maggie and Ellie Robertson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret Fowler of Dobson and Linda and Jerry Crouse of Galax, VA; one brother, Leonard Wilson of Westfield. In addition to his parents Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife, Vernell Newman Wilson. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Community Baptist Church by Rev. Kenneth Jessup with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, July 23, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes before the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be sent to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy will be assisting the Wilson Family.
