Mr. Leroy "Bill" Stanley

Mr. Leroy "Bill" Stanley, 76, of Dobson passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born in Surry County on December 31, 1936 to the late Roy Thomas and Lela Marion Stanley. Mr. Stanley served our country in the United States National Guard and was a devoted member of Fairview Baptist Church. He was a retired Plant Manager from Wayne Farms, LLC after thirty six years of devoted service and truly shared a love for bluegrass gospel music. He leaves to cherish his memory, three loving children, Vickey and husband, Bruce Wood of Dobson, Pam and husband, David Smith of Siloam and Greg Stanley of Charlotte; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Stanley of Dobson; his beloved grandchildren, Rancey Wood, Jeremiah Wood, Amber Bryant, Shane Stanley, Heather Hammaker, Haley Smith, Hunter Smith, Casey Mitchell, Landon Mitchell and Kenley Mitchell; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley and husband, Charles Stanley of Dobson, Faye and husband, Billy Burton of Elkin; and a special friend, Linda Cooke, of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his dear wife, Nancy Chrismon Stanley; a son Rick Stanley and two brothers, Thomas Edward and J.D. Stanley. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Fairview Baptist Church by Dr. Andy Atkins and Shane Stanley with burial to follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors by VFW Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm where his body will remain to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Stanley family.
