Mr. Lewis Franklin Knight, age 75, of Stuart passed away on Thursday April 11, 2013 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C. He was born in Lawsonville, N.C. on January 22, 1938 to the late Russell Valentine and Frances Grace Doss Knight. Mr. Knight was the Minister at Concord Church of Christ. He had retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant after 28 years of service, and also retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was actively involved with all Veterans activities, Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard, Memorial and Veterans Days assemblies, etc.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Knight was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil A. Knight and Robert Lee "Bob" Knight.
Surviving Mr. Knight are his wife of 53 years, Mary Sue Kim Knight of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Walker and husband Vernon of Suwanee, GA, Patricia Sengul and husband Tamer of Land O Lakes, FL, one son and daughter-in-law Frank Knight and wife Christy of Stuart, VA; five grandchildren Mary Walker, Victoria Knight, Adam, Luke, and Paul Sengul; three brothers, Donald, and Noah Knight of Stuart, VA, and Josiah D. Knight of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday April 14, 2013 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard conducting the service. Interment will be private. The Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard will conduct military rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the service and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard, c/o Roy McAlexander, 64 Blacksmith Rd., Meadows of Dan, VA 24120 or to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, N.C. 27017.
