Mr. Lonnie Gray Badgett

Lonnie Gray Badgett, 60, born to Ivan and Ella Badgett of Dobson, NC, went home to be with his Lord on July 23, 2012. As he entered into heaven there was his father and nephew waiting to greet him and lead him to his two precious babies who were waiting to give their daddy a hug. He was the wonderful loving husband of Leesa Rhea Badgett. Mr. Badgett graduated from Surry Central High School and Surry Community College with an Associate Degree in Auto Mechanics. He worked for Mount Airy Collision Center as an Auto Body Technician. Some called him the man with the magic touch. He could take a broken car no matter the condition and turn it into a beautiful machine. He was a skilled marksman. He had many talents too numerous to mention. Mr. Badgett attended Mayberry Baptist Church of Mount Airy, NC. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, mother, brother, and sister dearly. Family was the center of his day. He loved to ride motor bikes with his daughters; Tracy and Ruth Ann; he enjoyed just sitting and enjoying his wife at the end of a hard day; he visited his mother daily just to share in her day, working with Matthew on cars and teaching him how to do things was another favorite pass time, but one of his favorites was the time he spent with his grandchildren; Mason, Logan, Jazmyne Pearl, and Jordan. So, whether it was riding his motorcycle, playing badminton in the back yard with his kids, reading to his grandchildren, or just enjoying that late evening swim with his wife. He was a wonderful man. He will be missed but he will never be forgotten.
Lonnie is survived by his wife Leesa of the home; two of his own children and three he gained through marriage, Tracy Badgett Peeples(Jeff) of Bannertown, Ruth Ann Badgett (Ashley Whitaker) of Dobson, Amanda Bartolo (Leo), Daniel Masten (Amy) of Mocksville, and Matthew Masten and his Finance Courtney 'Cinderella' Renee Sawyers of the home. Grandchildren: Mason Masten, Logan Renee Badgett, Jordan Wayne Bartolo, and Jazmyne Pearl Bartolo. He is also survived by his mother, Ella Badgett, a brother Tim Badgett(Lynnette) and a sister Carol Tarlton(Ted). Mr. Badgett was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Badgett and a nephew Joseph Badgett.
Family will be receiving friends from 12:00 until 2:00 on Friday, July 27, 2012, with services to follow at Mayberry Baptist Church, 283 Belvue Dr., Mount Airy, NC, 27030. Mr. Badgett will be laid to rest at Blues Grove Baptist Church. Pastor Craig Edwards will be officiating and Moody-Davis Funeral Services of Dobson, NC, will be handling all plans. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to the Building Fund for Mayberry Baptist Church.
