Lonnie “Tripp” R. Williford III of Indian Land, SC. Tripp, 54, passed away on November 8, 2021. Tripp was born on December 22, 1966, in High Point, NC to Kay Atkinson Williford and the late Lonnie Williford Jr. Mr. Williford graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and attended East Carolina University and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He worked for the Charlotte Mecklenburg County Library for over 17 years. Tripp enjoyed attending and watching football games, attending concerts and spending time with friends. He was a kind-hearted man that had a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his nieces and sharing his talents as a great chef and gardener. Tripp never met a stranger and always greeted everyone with a big smile and kind words. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Kay Williford; sister, Stephanie Schmitt and her husband Mark, nieces, Kayley Marie and Mackenzie Grace Schmitt and his four-legged companion “Bo”. His graveside ceremony will be held at 2pm on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 359 Haystack Road, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, November 19, 2021, at St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. John Blizzard officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen UMC 6800 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270.
