Lucien Pelley Wrenn of Virginia Beach entered Eternal Life on March 1, 2016. He was 94. He was born on Feb. 21, 1922 in Mt. Airy, N.C., to Lucien Patterson Wrenn and Beatrice Pelley Wrenn. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Airy. Lucien's loves were family, flying, and fishing. He attended The Citadel and Dallas Aviation School, followed by service during World War II as a flight instructor in Terrell, Texas. His aviation career included employment by Piedmont Airlines/Piper Aircraft Sales Division. He was a member of AOPA for 68 years and logged over 27,000 hours in private aircraft. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Moore Wrenn, and a daughter, Peggy Wrenn Meletio. Living his legacy are daughters Carolyn Wrenn Brown of Virginia Beach and Mary Lu Konkel of Redding, Calif. Left to cherish the memory of "Big D" are nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. A graveside service at Oakdale Cemetery in Mt. Airy is March 12, 2016 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Mt. Airy. Moody Funeral Home in Mt Airy will be assisting the Wrenn Family.
