Mr. Lynnus Vinton Cockram

Mr. Lynnus Vinton Cockram age 90 of Bassett passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Virginia Veterans Care Center in Salem, VA. He was born in Patrick County on February 19, 1920 to the late Andrew Cockram and Bertha Compton Cockram. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers; Euodias Cockram, Eugene Cockram, and Alvin Cockram, and a sister; Pauline Turner. Mr. Cockram was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and served his country as a Master Sergeant in the Air Force during World War II; where he received the Bronze Star.
Mr. Cockram is survived by a brother; Arvil Cockram of Bassett, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Cockram will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 3:00pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. Military rites will be provided by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at Moody Funeral Home.
