Mr. Malcolm Perry "Red" Bowman, age 72 of Ararat, VA, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Laurel Meadows Nursing Home. Mr. Bowman was born in Patrick County on December 12, 1940 to Perry and Alice Harrell Bowman. He proudly served our county in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Bowman was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Everett Bowman of the home; a daughter, Leann Bowman of Ararat; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tara Bowman also of Ararat; grandchildren, Sharon Bowman and Haley Bowman; sisters, Etta Stanley of Mt. Airy, Effie Sawyers of Ararat, Edith Sawyers of High Point and Elaine Draughn of Mt. Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Lindy Bowman of Ararat, and Joe Bill and Maxine Bowman of Gastonia. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by a son, Malcolm Perry Bowman, Jr.; a sister, Theresa Stanley and brothers, Marvin Bowman and Glenn Bowman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church in Claudville, VA by Bro. David Harrellson and Bro. David Bowman. Burial will follow in Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by Patrick County Color Guard. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until the hour of the service.
