Mr. Marlie Eugene “Gene” Easter

Mr. Marlie Eugene “Gene” Easter, 61, of Cana, went to his Heavenly Home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, November 3, 2017. He was born in Carroll County, February 13, 1956 to the late Isaac Lester and Ida Marie Gwyn Easter. Mr. Easter enjoyed playing guitar and singing in churches as long as his health permitted. He is survived by his daughter, Amber Easter and fiancé, Lewis Smith; grandchildren, Marley Easter and Hunter Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Danny Boyd, Gloria Meadows and Kathy and Craig Easter; brothers and sister-in-law, Robert “Bobby” Easter and Lonnie and Ludena “Helen” Easter; many nieces and nephews, countless friends; and two special friends, Kimberly and Brenda. In addition to his parents, Mr. Easter was preceded in death by sisters, Etta Mae Farris; Ella Hawks, brother, Dennis Easter. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Easter Family Cemetery on Little Rock Rd., Cana, VA with Minister Bob Barr officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
