Mr. Martin Fillmore Clark, Sr. age 90 of Stuart, passed away Friday evening at his home. He was born in Patrick County on August 22, 1920 to the late Robert N. Clark and Allie Martin Clark. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Young Clark and three brothers, Robert N. Clark Jr., Richard A. Clark and Harry Clark. Mr. Clark was a naval veteran and served during the World War II. He earned his law degree from T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond and attended Stuart Presbyterian.
Mr. Clark practiced law in Patrick County for several decades and was known throughout the state for his skill as an attorney. He served as Patrick County's commonwealth's attorney for twenty-eight years and also as president of the Patrick County Bar for over a decade.
Mr. Clark is survived by a son, Judge Martin F. Clark, Jr. and wife, Deana of Stuart, Virginia; a brother, Henry C. Clark and wife, Mary Ann of Harrisonburg, Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11:00am at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Dr. Rev. Bucky Hunsicker officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Moody Funeral Home. Given that Fill loved and grew flowers, they are much welcomed and appreciated at his service.
