Mr. Melvin Dillard Jones

Mr. Melvin Dillard Jones, 77, of Cana, VA passed away at Heritage Hall in Laurel Fork, VA Monday, February 12, 2018. He was born in Carroll County, VA on January 25, 1941 to the late Larken I. and Elizabeth Jane “Bessie” Easter Jones. He retired from United Plastics. Mr. Jones was a member and served as deacon of Jesus Tabernacle for many years, and also attended Paul’s Creek Baptist Church as long as his health permitted. Mr. Jones is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Chris Jones; grandson, Brandon Davis; step-grandson, Cody Jones; great grandson, Ethan Davis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Paul Jones, Marie and Stanley Edwards; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clayton and Shirley Jones, Clarence and Joann Jones, Garnett and Linda Jones, Marlie and Gracie Jones, Murphy and Rosa Jones, and L.J. and Terry Jones. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Sue McMillian Jones; and his brother, Marvin Jones. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Moody Funeral Home with Dr. Darrell Tate, Rev. Larry Jones, and Rev. Justin McCreary officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Ford Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Thursday from 12:30 PM until the time of the service.
