Mr. Melvin Clay Rorrer

Mr. Melvin Clay Rorrer, age 78 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on August 4, 1931 to the late Coy Allen and Maude Belcher Rorrer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rorrer was preceded in death by one brother, William Allen Rorrer. He was a member of Conner's View Primitive Baptist Church, and had retired from Liberty Fabrics.
Mr. Rorrer is survived by his wife, Ruby Lawson Rorrer of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Lynn and Danny Pendleton of Critz; one son, Jimmy Clay Rorrer of Claudville; one grandchild, Brian Pendleton; four sisters, Delcie Belcher of Stuart, Evadell Lyon of Woolwine, Hollis Fain of Stuart and Linda Fain of Stuart; three brothers, Marvin Rorrer of Stuart, Donnie Rorrer of Stuart and Bernice Rorrer of Bassett; and a special friend, Jimmy Vernon.
Funeral services for Mr. Rorrer will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Conner's View Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Edward Bowman and Elder Donnie Conner officiating. Burial will follow in the New Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Conner's View Primitive Baptist Church. If desired, memorials may be made to Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 122, Woolwine, Virginia 24185, or to the New Dan River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Melvin Cruise, 402 Devonshire Drive, Ridgeway, Virginia 24148.
