Mr. Michael Zane Hazelwood

Mr. Michael Zane Hazelwood, age 71 of Stuart, Virginia passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Blue Ridge Therapy Connection. He was born in Henry County on April 11, 1945 to the late William Jackson Hazelwood and Edith Hall Hazelwood. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Craig. Mike was a member of Big A Church of Christ. He was also a talented song writer, musician, and carpenter. He was a longtime member of The Dominion Bluegrass Boys and The Country Boys.

Mr. Hazelwood is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Don Richards of Stuart; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Hazelwood, and Todd and Patricia Hazelwood, all of Stuart; six grandchildren, Michael Craig, Jessica Knowles, Eric Richards, Josh Hazelwood, Travis Hazelwood, and Hailey Hazelwood; five great grandchildren; siblings, Darrell Hazelwood and wife, Martha of Old Fort, NC, Geraldine McPeak and husband, Bob of Stuart, Lewis Hazelwood of Stuart, and Perry Hazelwood and wife, Millie of Stuart; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Ilene Bolt of Stuart; and his best buddy, his dog Nikki.
Funeral services for Mr. Hazelwood will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 2:00pm at Big A Church of Christ with Pastor Mark Wright and special speaker Eric Sheppard officiating. The burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will accept friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home of his sister, Geraldine McPeak.
