Mr. Michael Thurman Lawson

Mr. Michael Thurman Lawson, age 67 of Lawsonville, North Carolina passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County, North Carolina on September 4, 1942 to the late Thurman "Greek" Lawson and Zilla Priddy Lawson. He was a member of Oakridge Baptist Church, had been a former Deputy of Stokes County, North Carolina, a security guard at Wachovia Bank in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a lifelong farmer. He had served in the United States Navy, and was a member of American Legion Post 1981.
Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife, Betty Booth Lawson of the home; one son, Michael Scott Lawson of Hillsville, Virginia; a granddaughter, Casey Elizabeth Lawson; one grandson, Cameron Michael Lawson; one brother, Clyde B. Lawson of Ormond Beach, Florida; and one nephew, Peter A. Lawson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Ridge Baptist Church on Highway 704, Sandy Ridge, North Carolina with Rev. Billy Nelson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the honor guard. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
