Mr. Michael Kelly McKagen

Mr. Michael McKagen, 45 of Mt. Airy passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born on April 5, 1968 in Palm Beach County, FL to Joy P. McKagen and the late William C. McKagen. Michael was a loving son, brother and friend. He moved to North Carolina where his mother, Joy and stepfather, Pat J. Snow live in Mt. Airy, and then to Boone, NC where he worked in construction. Before his construction accident and his health failed, Michael was an avid fisherman, diver, and loved going to the Keys and the islands and always enjoyed cooking for his friends. Michael was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tequesta, FL. In addition to his mother and Pat (P.J.), Michael leaves his brother, Bob McKagen and his wife, Lauren and their children, Sarah, Matt and Scott of Atlanta, GA; brother, Marty McKagen of Atlanta; his sister Cynthia Joy and her husband, Gil Greene and their children, Gilbert and Christina Joy of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Also surviving is a stepsister, Lisa and her husband, Mark Blevins and their son, Patrick; a step sister, Karen Snow and a step brother, Mitch Snow and his wife, Kini and their children, Mally Snow and Ethan Edwards of Mt. Airy. Also missing Michael is a special friend, Lynn Golden Cash of Boone and many wonderful friends in Jupiter, FL. Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy is handling the arrangements and private family service.
