Mr. Michael Dean Vernon, age 70, of Mount Airy passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born February 10, 1947 to the late Ulice Monroe and Agnes Frances Taylor Vernon. Mr. Vernon retired from Proctor Silex and also from Rebb Industries, and proudly served our country in the United States Army. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Judy Vernon of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Misty and Robby Galyean, Angie and Curtis Hall, Amy and Steve Chandler; seven grandchildren, Taylor Galyean, Kenslee Galyean, Alexandra Jones and fiancé Jacob Patten, Tanner Jones, Ethan Hall, Katie Rotenizer and husband Jacob, Taylor Chandler, a great-grandchild, Kymree Rotenizer; sisters and brother-in-law, Gaye and Jerry Hicks, and Pam Mills. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 11:00am at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Benfield and Rev. Bill Faw officiating. Burial will follow in Paul’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with full Military rights conducted by Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard Stuart Va. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 14, 2018 from 6-8pm at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 922 Banner St, Mt Airy, NC. 27030. The family would like to thank all the friends for their kindness during Mr. Vernon’s illness as well as those of Mountain Valley Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
