Mr. Michael Brandon Johnston, age 32, of Ararat, NC passed away at his home on Thursday March 3, 2016. He was born in Guildford Co., NC on March 11, 1983 to Jeffery Johnston and Wendy Hall-Arnold. He was a Veteran of the US Marines and served overseas in Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He attended Sycamore Baptist Church in Walnut Cove and was employed by A&D Environmental. Surviving are his wife, Shannon Robinson Johnston of the home; son Damian Shea Robinson of Winston-Salem; mother, Wendy Hall-Arnold and husband Marvin A. Welch Jr. of Ararat, NC; father, Jeffery Wayne Johnston and significant other, Robin Rhodes-Ball of Beckley WV; step-parents, James and Melissa Arnold of Sanford, NC; sisters, Annie Welch of Lexington, Molly Welch of Lexington, Samantha Arnold of Sanford; step-brothers, Zachary Welch of Welcome, Brandon Welch of Welcome, Austin Welch of Lexington, Walker Welch of Lexington; grandparents, Ellen Adams of Princeton, WV, and Carl and Susan Allen of Conway, SC; special friends, Steve and Heather Davis and Shawn Poe. Funeral services will be held Sunday 2:00 P.M. March 6, 2016 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Wenmar Welch Family Farm Cemetery with full military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard, Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Pastor Lonnie Sorrell and James “Roscoe” Bowden will be officiating. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pilot Mountain Hospice 129 Veterans Dr. Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
