Mr. Moir Ray Vaughn

Mr. Moir Ray Vaughn, age 78, of Stuart passed away Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 at Sovah Health in Martinsville. He was born in Patrick County on Oct. 24, 1939 to the late Moir W. Vaughn and Sally Dollarhite Vaughn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera Burnette, Ellen Handy, Stella Gusler; and two brothers, Willie and Cecil Vaughn. Ray served in the U.S. Army and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Eva Haden Vaughn of the home; one son, Tim Vaughn and fiancé, Misty Smith of Martinsville; one daughter, Sharon Vaughn of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Claire and Matthew Vaughn; one great grandchild, Liam Arthur; one sister, Jane Lawson of Richmond; three brothers, Herman Vaughn of Stuart, Cotton Vaughn of Collinsville, Leon Vaughn of Stuart; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 26, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder Edward Bowman, Elder Milton Gunter, and Pastor Tim Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the Patrick Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
