Mr. Murphy Franklin Bowman

Mr. Murphy Franklin Bowman, 89, of Cana VA passed away Saturday November 26, 2016 at the Senior Share Center in Galax. Mr. Bowman was born October 11, 1927 in Surry County to the late Ellis B. and Dossie Iroler Bowman. Mr Bowman retired from the Carroll County School System; he also was an orchardist and woodworker. He was a charter member of the Cana Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Jean Stockner Bowman; a daughter Debbie Bowman, a son and daughter in-law Wayne and Beverly Bowman; grandchildren Lori (Brian) Craig, Benton Bowman, and Diane (Michael) Goin; four great-grandchildren; a sister Ethel Goad, a brother and sister-in-law, Burlie and Wilma Bowman, a brother-in-law Freeman Bowman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Payne and a sister, Frieda Bowman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Rocky Ford Christian Church with Rev. Billy Moore and Rev Russell Vass officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
