Mr. Myron Jack York age 90 of Mt. Airy, NC. passed away Saturday April 2, 2016 at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson surrounded by his loving family. Mr. York was born February 22, 1926 in Surry County to the late L.M. York and Jettie Robertson York. Mr. York was Co-Owner of York Oil Company, was a charter member of White Plains Fire Department where he served for 22 years. Jack was very active in Civic organizations which included the White Plains Ruritan Club, White Plains Senior Citizens, American Legion/VFW and was a long time member of White Plains Friends Meeting Church. Surviving are his wife Madge Simmons York of the home one daughter and son-in-law Joan and Johnny Bowman of Mt. Airy, two sons Dale York and wife Brenda of Mt. Airy and Brad York and Enrique Patino of Miami, FL., grandchildren and spouses John and Meghan Shelton of Charlotte, Jamey and Jaime Shelton of Wilmington, Missy and Phil Whitaker, Mt. Airy, Julie and Kevin Pratt of Dobson and Dustin and Holly York of Mt. Airy, great grandchildren Connor Shelton, Emma Shelton and Finley Shelton all of Charlotte, Noah Shelton and Vann Shelton both of Wilmington, Jed Whitaker, Will Whitaker, Nate Whitaker of Mt. Airy, Carley Pratt and Ally Pratt of Dobson and Brody York and Mallie York of Mt. Airy and by two sisters-in-law Marion J. York and Carolyn M. York both of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents Mr. York was preceded in death by one sister Beulah York Lane and by three brothers Tom B. York, Bob L. York and Russell M. York. Funeral services will be held Monday April 4, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at the White Plains Friends Meeting Church with services conducted by Rev. Stewart Mauck and Mr. Gary York with burial to follow in the church cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Mt. Airy VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post #2019 and Pilot Mountain Post #9436. The family will receive friends on Monday at White Plains Friends Meeting Church from 12:00 noon until time for the service. The family would like to give a special thank you to Jack’s caregiver Jim Clarke. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to White Plains Ruritan Club c/o of Garnett Beasley, 1626 Old Hwy 601 Mt.
