Mr. Otis Lee Jessup

Mr. Otis Lee Jessup, 92, of Claudville, VA passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born in Patrick County to the late Hillary and Laura Tilley Jessup. Mr. Jessup bravely served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. Prior to the war he worked in CC Camps in various locations. Mr. Jessup was a well-known farmer throughout the community and a faithful member of Mountain View Pentecostal Holliness Church. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Faye Jessup, David and Renee Jessup, and Vickie Jessup; grandchildren, Brian Jessup and wife, Traci, Travis Jessup and wife, Tennille, Stephanie Gallemore and husband, Tom, Brandon Jessup and fiancée, Lori Fisher, Shawn Jessup, Andrew Jessup and wife, Mallorie, Heather Jones and husband, Clay, Jennifer Jessup, Courtney Jessup; great grandchildren, Chase, Luke, Thaxton, Noah, Barrett, Olivia and soon to arrive, Arya; step grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brittany and Kristen; step great-great grandchildren, Lennon and Clary; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Larry Moorefield; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Jessup and Libby Jessup. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jessup was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Irene Pruitt Jessup; a son, Mike Jessup; twin grandsons, Brad and Chad Jessup; sisters, Audrey Hayden and Betty Lou Beane; brothers, Alvin, Burton, and Raymond Jessup. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Mountain View Pentecostal Church, Claudville on Friday, April 28, 2017 with Rev. Tony Goins and Rev. Roger Collins officiating. Entombment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens with full military honors by Patrick County Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy where the body will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to service.
