Mr. Otis Erman "Lightning" Setliff

Mr. Otis Erman "Lightning" Setliff, age 86 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on April 15, 1925 to the late John and Mary Emerson Setliff. In addition to his parents, Mr. Setliff was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ross Setliff; three sisters, Lucy Whorley, Della Spencer and Florence Roberson; and five brothers, Alan, Harry, Posey, Roy and Amos Setliff. Mr. Setliff was a member of New Hope Church of the Brethren, had worked for J.D. Bassett Furniture Industry and had been a sawmiller.
Mr. Setliff is survived by step-sons, Robert M. Branch and wife, Barbara, and Richard N. Branch; step-daughter, Patricia B. Walker and husband, Stephen; and step-grandchildren, Smokye and Andrew Williams, all of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and a very loving friend, Valarie Setliff of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mr. Setliff will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Church of the Brethren with Rev. Rick Randall officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements.
