Mr. Owen Bowman

Mr. Owen Bowman, age 91, of Lambsburg, VA, widower of Claudia Lyons Bowman, passed away at his home Saturday, January 16, 2016. He was born in Carroll County, VA on October 7, 1924 to the late Fred and Effie Alderman Bowman. Mr. Bowman bravely served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943-1946. He was a charter member of the Lions Club in Fairlawn, VA, a dedicated member of the Lambsburg Ruritan Club and a faithful member of the Lambsburg Christian Church where he served as a past Chairman, Sunday School Teacher and Elder. Mr. Bowman was a well-known educator in Carroll County for many years. He continued his personal education throughout his career and retired from the Carroll County School System in 1991. Surviving are daughters and a son-in-law, Randi and Bruce Wilcox and Mary Bowman McGarry; grandchildren, Annette Terry and husband Marty, Luke Golding and wife Tammy; great grandchildren, Nicole Terry, Martina Terry, Maggie Terry, Nathan Golding and Katie Golding. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by a great grandchild, Casey Owen Terry; and sisters, Mary Marcum, Edith Borbas and Gaye Bowman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January, 20, 2016 at Lambsburg Christian Church with Pastor Ron Schwarz and Rev. Phil Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Mt. Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends at Lambsburg Christian Church on Tuesday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 PM. Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy will be assisting the Bowman Family.
