Mr. Paul Akers Gregory

Mr. Paul Akers Gregory, Sr. age 85 of Spencer, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on June 24, 1923 to the late Edward Duncan Gregory and Mary Alice Massey Gregory. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gregory was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Howell Gregory; one son, Jack Gregory; four brothers, Columbus, Guy, Ralph and Jesse Gregory.; and four sisters, Kathleen Gunter, Lessie Thomason, Daisy Byrd and Eleanor Gunter. He was a member of Friendly Christian Church, and had been a foreman at Pannill Knitting Corporation. He had served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Gregory is survived by two sons, Paul Gregory, Jr. of Amelia and Johnnie Gregory of Hopewell; three daughters, Judith Green of Spencer, Dianne Walters of Lynchburg and Jane Gregory of Spencer, six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Gregory of Stuart; and two brothers, James Gregory and Thomas Gregory, both of Stuart.
A memorial service for Mr. Gregory will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
